AREA CODE GAMES FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE AREA CODE GAMES?: The Area Code Games are an individualized, regional event where players are placed on designated teams representing their specific area code to compete in a two-phase championship format. In Phase 1, these newly formed regional squads play locally to battle for their area's top spot. The Phase 1 champions earn the right to keep their winning roster intact, giving the players a unique 2 to 3-month window to practice, build chemistry, and fine-tune their game together before advancing to Phase 2 to play for the ultimate title in Myrtle Beach!

DO TEAMS PRACTICE?: Yes! Teams are permitted to practice prior to Phase 1, and winning teams advancing to Phase 2 can continue practicing during the two to three months leading up to the Myrtle Beach championships—provided the coaches and parents agree on a schedule. We completely understand that families have busy routines, so if a player is unable to attend practices due to scheduling conflicts, it will never negatively impact their standing or playing time on the team.

UNIFORMS: Every registered player receives a complete custom gear package, including a fitted hat, two jerseys, a hoodie, a bag, a custom bag tag, and an Area Code ring! All players are required to wear white knickers or white pro-style pants, paired with a black belt and black socks to complement their uniform.

UNIFORM PICKUP: Once registration is complete, your order will be processed. Parents can pick up their player's gear at their assigned field location on Saturday prior to their first game. Please plan to arrive at least two hours before your team's first scheduled game for pickup. For added convenience, gear pickup will also remain available at the fields throughout the weekend.

DIAMOND KAST: Perfect Game employees will manage DiamondKast. This is a critical factor for determining individual awards.

POOL PLAY GAMES: Some age groups will have an uneven number of teams, requiring one or two teams to play four pool play games instead of three on Friday or Saturday. To balance this, teams playing four games can drop their worst result when determining Sunday's seeding.

COACHES GEAR: Head coaches and assistant coaches will each receive a hat. Coaches may wear their travel team's t-shirt and shorts.

PANTS, SOCKS & BELTS: All players must wear white knickers or white pro-style pants with a belt and a pair of socks that match their area code uniform colors.

HOME & AWAY FROM BRACKET PLAY: Higher seeds will be the home team during bracket play. For pool play, home and away teams are predetermined by the schedule.

HOME & AWAY JERSEYS: Home and Away teams are predetermined by the schedule. Black jerseys are for the home team, and pink for away.

Registration Deadline: Please note that the registration deadline is Sepetmber 15, 2026. Thank you!

AREA CODE RULES
OFFENSE GUILDLINES

Teams will maintain the same continuous batting order throughout the event. Each new game must begin with the batter immediately following the player who recorded the final out (or completed the final plate appearance) of the previous game. This policy is designed to provide every player with a more equal number of at-bats during the weekend. Coaches are responsible for maintaining the correct batting order, and tournament staff may verify lineups before each game.

DEFENSE GUILDLINES

We will follow the standard Perfect Game pitching rules for all age groups. To ensure fair play and development, we will implement a rotational defensive strategy. Players will be moved between positions throughout the game, aiming to provide as close to equal playing time as possible.

PERFECT GAME

Except for the rule modifications stated above, we will follow Perfect Game's National By-Laws and Rules.
